The Coronavirus pandemic was brutal for my company. I recall last August 2020 during a project watching the price of 2x4s jump from $5 to $7 to $9 then finally $11.50. All within a week!
Not only was I dealing with drastic price increases, material availability became an issue. On a separate project, I needed 20 pickets to finish but none were to be had. I checked all the big box stores, independent fence suppliers, everywhere. My client had to sit with an 8 foot gap in his fence for a day while I drove 40 miles and was able to get the pickets from Lowe's. After that experience I began turning down jobs if I wasn't confident that I could get the material.
Here we are a year later and the good news is that fencing material prices have returned to 2019 levels and there's plenty of it. I feel confident returning my pricing to what I was charging in 2019. I'm still offering the cash/check discount on all fencing.
Thanks!
